By Marcie Goodman

Horses and ponies need various rugs these days to see to their needs. With so many rugs on the market, finding ones that fit well and stay in place is not an easy task. Finding the Amigo Mio is a solution to a lot of rugging problems.

It is made from a polyester 600 D, This fabric looks quite feeble but is equal at least to most other fabrics used for this purpose. Using the lighter material in conjunction with the patented design of the leg cutouts at the front, means the rugs can sit closely around the horse, without limiting it's movement in any way.

The rugs are available in sizes to fit most equines and all come in the usual variations of weight and warmth. There is a choice of colours and design with a normal, or a one piece design, which has an inclusive neck. This is cut from the same piece of material as the rug and the beauty of this is that there is no seem or join across the lower neck to cause pressure or rubbing.

The rugs have double chest fasteners, two crossed surcingles in the tummy area and on the one piece two large Velcro fastenings to secure the neck, When fitted properly this arrangement secures the rug to the horse to avoid slippage and there are no loose flaps to catch on hedges and trees. All this is achieved while still allowing the horse plenty of room for natural movement like running, rolling and even throwing the odd buck.

The brand also has a fly rug which fits in the same manner and has an integrated neck to ensure full protection from the annoying insects and flies.Made from a knitted polyester with a bronze finish, this rug also protects from harmful sun rays. With it's red trim it makes a very fetching example for any horse or pony.

The range has also included stable rugs which again come in various thicknesses. With only one front fastening and a tummy strap they offer more comfort during times of less activity. With a dirt repellent surface they keep your equine warm and clean.

No rug range would be complete without a fleece and this is no exception. Again available with or without an integral neck, these versatile rugs come in more standard colour choices. They can be used as a day rug, an under rug or for travelling as well as the normal use of keeping a wet or sweaty horse warm while it dries off naturally. Then for the summer their is the final rug a skrim rug for cooling a horse on a hot day, with solid and mesh panels to allow the horses skin to breathe.

When you really do not know where to start to get your horse the right rug, the amigo mio is a rug that is designed to fit most equines and is a good place to look. Once you find that one rug fits your particular pony or horse, you now know you can get everything else you require from the same range, in a choice of different colours. If your local suppliers do not have want you want you can now search until you find it.
